Information you provide

When you sign in, we receive account information from your login provider, such as your email address, name, profile image, and provider identifier. We store the links, notes, text, images, files, spaces, and other content you choose to save, along with related metadata and timestamps. Support messages include the information you choose to email us.

How we use information

We use this information to authenticate your account, save and sync your library, display and organize content, process subscriptions, respond to support requests, maintain security, and diagnose errors. Session records can include IP addresses and user-agent information. Local copies of your library and pending saves are stored on your device for offline use.

Saved links and service providers

Material retrieves content from links you save. Depending on the source, URLs and retrieved content may be processed by extraction services including Firecrawl, Apify, and proxy providers. We use hosting, storage, database, and synchronization providers including Vercel, Cloudflare, PlanetScale, Expo, and PowerSync. Inngest processes background jobs. Pipeline diagnostics may be sent to PostHog, including saved public-post URLs, source or capture identifiers, and extraction outcomes. Public-source content may be cached and reused when multiple users save the same URL.

Subscriptions

Stripe processes payments for subscriptions purchased on our website. RevenueCat receives your Material account identifier, purchase information, and checkout email to process subscriptions and synchronize access across devices. Material does not receive your full payment-card details. RevenueCat and Stripe may retain transaction records under their own policies and applicable requirements.

Chrome extension and AI connections

The Chrome extension reads page metadata and selected content to support saving pages, images, text, and social posts you choose. It does not upload your browsing history. Pending saves and authentication tokens are stored locally in your browser. When you connect Material to ChatGPT or another MCP client, that service can use the permissions you grant to search and read your saved cards, source attribution, notes, annotations, and spaces, export content, or create new captures and notes. Requested content is sent to the connected service and is subject to its own privacy policy. Disconnect the integration to stop future access.

Sharing and integrations

Connected integrations can access the information covered by permissions you grant. Content you deliberately make public or share may be accessible to other people. Only connect services you trust, and avoid putting sensitive information in public content.

Retention and deletion

We keep your account and saved library while your account is active. You can delete saved cards or request account deletion from Settings in the iPhone app. Account deletion removes account records and the saved library; uploaded files are cleaned up in background jobs, and provider outages may delay cleanup. Backups, operational logs, shared public-source caches, and records required for legal, security, or payment purposes may persist under their applicable retention schedules. Contact us for help with a specific deletion request.

Your choices

You can choose what to save, manage connected integrations, cancel subscriptions through the billing page on our website, and delete your Material account. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information. Contact us to make a request. We may need to verify account ownership.
